When Missouri native Morgan Whitaker began looking for colleges that would offer the degree she wanted to pursue, she looked no farther than the state next door and found Arkansas State University-Mountain Home had just what she was looking for. Morgan took one year of general education courses at a college in Missouri before transferring to ASUMH. Once on campus, she found that the size and environment for students was perfect for fitting in. “I knew what I wanted to do with my life long ago. The challenge was finding a college that offered a well-respected degree with a student life that I could enjoy. ASUMH offered all of that to me.” Morgan got involved very quickly on the ASUMH campus, joining the Student Government Association and working on campus. “The embalming classes are taught in a local funeral home and by the time I graduate I will have successfully completed 12 embalmings under the guidance of a preceptor. I think that will make me a better funeral home owner one day myself, and that’s my dream.” Morgan will be graduating from ASUMH in one year and already has a job promised back home in Missouri. We are sure it won’t be long until Morgan is realizing her dream of owning her own funeral home. |
