Under Construction
Visitors to ASUMH will notice construction on the north end of campus. The Vada Sheid Community Development Center will be the largest building on the ASUMH campus. A topping out ceremony, which celebrated the final piece of steel being set in place, was held the second week of March and the Amphitheatre, funded by First Security Bank, was dedicated in October.
The Vada Sheid Community Development Center will be the cultural and activity-heart of the Twin Lakes region. ASUMH will combine career-learning opportunities with cultural, business and entertainment pursuits. Regional cultural events as well as new tourism prospects should greatly increase.
The design for this center includes a 1,600 seat auditorium and stage, convention hall space with banquet facilities for 500, the Norma Wood Library, the continuing education and workforce training center, the First Security Amphitheatre, the Dale Bumpers Great Hall and art gallery, and catering kitchen. In addition, there are two different floors of approximately 7,000 square feet each being constructed which are now in the planning stages for their usage.
