Program Overview
ASUMH's Emergency Medical Services (EMS) program prepares students to provide life-saving emergency care in pre-hospital and clinical settings. Through classroom instruction, hands-on labs, clinical experiences, and field internships, students develop the knowledge and skills needed to respond confidently in emergency situations. Graduates are eligible to pursue National Registry and Arkansas state licensure, preparing them for careers as Emergency Medical Technicians and Paramedics.
Paramedic Application Deadline: October 15 for January start.
Emergency Medical Technician (Certificate of Proficiency)
Begin your EMS career by learning the fundamentals of emergency medical care, patient assessment, trauma response, and life-saving interventions. This one-semester program prepares students for the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) examination and serves as the prerequisite for the Paramedic program.
Paramedic Technology (Technical Certificate)
Expand your EMT training through advanced instruction in pharmacology, medical and trauma emergencies, cardiovascular care, clinical experiences, and field internships. Graduates are prepared to become Nationally Registered Paramedics.
Emergency Medical Services (Associate of Applied Science)
The Associate of Applied Science combines paramedic training with general education coursework to prepare graduates for advanced career opportunities, leadership roles, and continued education within emergency medical services.
