Dr. Sandra Massey Named Interim Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs at ASUMH

Arkansas State University-Mountain Home (ASUMH) is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Sandra Massey as Interim Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs. Dr. Massey, a native of Jonesboro and current resident of the Twin Lakes Area, assumed the role in mid-July and will serve during the search for an Executive Vice Chancellor, who will act as both Chief Academic Officer and Chief Student Affairs Officer for the college.
“We are so very fortunate to have Dr. Massey serve in this interim role at ASUMH,” said Dr. Bentley Wallace, Chancellor of ASUMH. “Her extensive community college executive leadership experience makes her the ideal person to lead the college’s academic excellence and innovation initiatives during this transition period.”
With over 25 years of leadership experience in higher education, Dr. Massey brings a wealth of knowledge in student and academic affairs, strategic planning, organizational effectiveness, and community partnerships. Her career includes executive leadership roles such as Chancellor at ASU–Newport and Provost at Tulsa Community College.
Dr. Massey is widely recognized for transforming institutional culture, expanding access to education, and fostering inclusive leadership practices that empower students, faculty, and staff. She has spearheaded workforce development initiatives, institutional rebranding campaigns, and organizational redesigns across multiple institutions.
In addition to her work in higher education, Dr. Massey is the founder of McRaven-Massey Coaching, a professional development and coaching practice dedicated to supporting emerging leaders as they navigate challenges such as burnout, imposter syndrome, and leadership transitions.
Dr. Massey earned her Doctor of Education from Oklahoma State University and holds both a master’s and bachelor’s degree from Arkansas State University. She is passionate about helping individuals and institutions unlock their potential, reimagine success, and lead with purpose and courage.
