Holiday Lights Coming to Mountain Home
SEPTEMBER 10, 2021
The City of Mountain Home, Mountain Home Area Chamber of Commerce, and Arkansas State University-Mountain Home are working together to produce a drive-through holiday light show on the campus of ASUMH. Our goal is to provide a festive atmosphere where local residents and out-of-town visitors can share with friends and family throughout the holiday season. This happy event will bring people to our area during the holiday shopping season and boost the economy for our local businesses.
This year’s event will set the stage for future years. While the complete drive-through show cannot be completed by November this year, a shortened trail will be lit with holiday lights and a few displays. In future years, the show will grow to a 1.5-mile path featuring interactive holiday events, i.e., hayrides, food trucks serving holiday treats, ice skating rink, Ferris wheel, visits with Santa, etc.
Beginning 2022, a gate will be placed at the entrance to collect a small fee ($10.00/car) or donation in order to raise money for growing and maintaining the light show. A small percentage of any gate funds will be given to ASUMH to provide scholarships for our local students. The City of Mountain Home and The Chamber will not receive any proceeds from visitors to the holiday light show.
We are asking you to join us in creating this exciting, fun, and festive event. You will find attached a list of sponsorship opportunities. Recognition will be provided for all levels of giving. Any funds not used to purchase lights and supplies this current year will be used beginning in January to prepare for the 2022 drive-through holiday light show. We welcome any volunteers who would like to help set up displays in the coming weeks.
Please contact the ASUMH Development Office and speak to Mollie Morgan if you would like to participate. The contact number is 870-508-6191; email: mmorgan@asumh.edu.
For your convenience, we are also attaching a list of volunteer committee members. Feel free to talk to them with any questions you may have.
Let’s get ready for a wonderful holiday season!!
