Seen on the Trail

Why let the area grow naturally?
We are letting the area along the Trail grow naturally to help the environment in the following ways:
Trap sediment from rainwater before it reaches the stream;
Strengthen soil and protects stream banks from enrosion;
Help dissipate flood energy from the stream;
Provide food and shelter for aquatic and terrestrial organisms.
Lessons Plans
ASUMH and A-State Teacher Education students were pleased to collaborate with the Friends of the North Fork & White Rivers to develop lesson plans for those who want to learn more about Dodd Creek, the trail running through campus, and stream conservation. These standards-based lessons, designed by pre-professional teachers, are provided for use by teachers and others to use as a catalyst to spur interest in local ecological and preservation issues.
