Books and Course Materials

How do I know which books I need?

For each course, you may be required to purchase textbooks and/or other course materials. Each instructor will put their required textbook information in the course syllabus, but you can also visit the ASUMH Bookstore website and put in your course information.

As of the Fall 2025 semester, we no longer have a bookstore physically on campus, so if you have questions, please check out this flyer on How To Order. If you have any issues, let us know and we'll be happy to connect you with a bookstore representative.

Do I have to buy?

Whether you decide to buy the textbook or rent it, our online Bookstore has several options for obtaining the required materials.

What if I want to purchase online?

If you are using a book voucher (financial aid), it can only be used in the ASUMH online bookstore. And while we think our bookstore is a great resource for students, we understand that some people prefer to purchase books online through other vendors. You'll want to look up the required course materials using the bookstore website and copy the ISBN number to search for the course textbook on another site.

Open Education Resource (OER) Courses

In an effort to lower the textbook and course material costs for our students, the faculty of ASUMH have put in a lot of time and effort to create open ended resources for their courses. This means that there are courses where you don't have to purchase anything additionally because the materials will be given to you by your instructor. To find out which classes are OER courses, check out the attribute column on the far right of the course schedule.
