INTRODUCTION TO FINANCIAL AID
At Arkansas State University – Mountain Home (ASUMH), the Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid is all about making your college dreams possible. We’re here to provide you with free advice and support to score grants, scholarships, and funding. Did you know that 83% of ASUMH students receive Pell Grants or Scholarships with 74% of them receiving refunds?
FEDERAL AID
Complete the FAFSA annually using ASUMH school code 042544 to apply for federal aid, even if you think you may not qualify.
The academic year starts in August—complete the FAFSA each spring for the next year.
The FAFSA applies to Federal Grants, Loans, Work Study, and other aid from ASUMH, Arkansas, and other sources.
STATE AID
Arkansas residents are encouraged to explore grants and scholarships offered by the Arkansas Department of Higher Education (ADHE). Applications can be submitted online at at https://sams.adhe.edu/ with the application period opening every fall for the upcoming academic year starting in August. We recommend that all Arkansas residents reapply each year, even if you were not previously eligible, to maximize your financial aid options.
SCHOLARSHIPS
ASUMH offers scholarships to current and incoming students. Belohttp://w are key scholarship options:
ASUMH Academic Distinction – For first-time college freshmen who apply within a year of earning a high school diploma, home school diploma, or GED.
ASUMH Foundation Scholarships – Awarded by campus committees; no separate application needed unless contacted. Apply for admission by March 15 to be considered.
Mountain Home Promise – For recent Mountain Home High School graduates who apply within a year of graduation.
Career Pathways – For students who are parents with children under 21 living at home.
External Scholarships – ASUMH provides links to local, state, and national scholarship opportunities and search tips to help you find additional funding

How Financial Aid Awards Are Processed
Attendance Verification – The Registrar’s Office verifies attendance by the 11th day of classes.
Award Adjustment – Financial aid awards are adjusted based on enrolled credit hours.
Fund Release – The Financial Aid Office requests funds from the federal government.
Account Application – Funds are applied to the student’s account.
Refund Processing – After covering tuition, fees, and books, any remaining funds are refunded:
Direct Deposit (Preferred) – Set up in Banner Self-Service under TouchNet.
Paper Checks – Mailed to the address on file (dependent on USPS).
