How to Apply

Do you have a composite score or super score of 24 on the ACT? Or maybe you're graduating top 10% of your class? Have you completed the GED with a total score of 660 or higher? You might qualify for this scholarship! As long as you're eligible and you apply for admissions, you will receive a scholarship to help pay for up to four semesters.

The ASUMH Academic Distinction Scholarship is an academic scholarship that provides funds to qualifying individuals! Check the Eligibility Criteria and Guidelines to see what it takes to be eligible.

APPLICATION

Your Application for Admission is your application for this scholarship.

Because we base our awarding decisions upon what you provide with your Application for Admission, it is up to you to provide any additional documents to the ASUMH Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid which may make you eligible for the Academic Distinction or even qualifing for a higher award amount based upon the Eligibility Criteria and Guidelines.

SUPERSCORING CONCIDERATION

If you have taken multiple SAT, ACT, or GED tests that could result in qualifying for the Academic Distinction or qualifing for a higher award amount based upon the Eligibility Criteria and Guidelines, provide documentation to the ASUMH Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid for consideration.

STUDENT RESPONSIBILITIES

Once you complete your  Application for Admission, your application and documents will be assessed. If everything is in order, you will be sent an award letter. You MUST accept your scholarship within 30 days of date on the award letter or you might forfeit this scholarship. If you decide to attend another institution after your high school graduation, home school completion, or GED completion, but before you attend ASUMH, you will not be eligible for this scholarship. Recipients that plan to attend another college or other post-secondary institution should decline the award in writing to the ASUMH Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid.

After you accept your scholarship, you will need to enroll in at least 12 credit hours every Fall and Spring semester (for up to four semesters). Students not enrolled in the correct number and type of credit hours during fall and spring semesters might forfeit eligibility.

An Academic Distinction Scholarship recipient may only delay enrollment for their first semester of attendance at ASUMH, provided the following requirements are met:

  • The recipient’s first enrollment period of actual attendance at ASUMH is less than one (1) calendar year after high school graduation, home school completion, or the GED testing date.

  • The recipient submits their intent in writing to the ASUMH Scholarship Committee prior to the beginning of the fall or spring semester they will not be attending.

  • The recipient does not enroll in any other post-secondary institution prior to beginning enrollment at ASUMH.

How to Renew

RENEWING THE SCHOLARSHIP

You thought applying was easy? Well renewing your scholarship is even easier! All you need to do is complete and pass a minimum of 12 college credit hours and maintain a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.00 at ASUMH every fall and spring semester.

NOTE: Academic Distinction Scholarship recipients who enroll for their first time at ASUMH in summer school classes will be eligible to receive the Academic Distinction Scholarship for one semester regardless of their Cumulative Grade Point Average after that summer enrollment period.  However, summer grades will affect your Cumulative Grade Point Average when renewal is check at the end of fall.

INFORMATION ON ACADEMIC PROBATION

So things didn't go as well as you planned? We understand!

You will only receive one probation semester as an Academic Distinction Scholarship recipient. Any recipient not maintaining the minimum cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 3.00 will be granted one semester of probation after the CGPA drops below a 3.00. The recipient loses funding of this scholarship during the probation semester and loses one (1) of the traditional four (4) semesters of eligibility. To be eligible for reinstatement after the probation semester, the recipient must meet all conditions of renewal and have at least one (1) semester of eligibility remaining.
