Governing Boards


The Board of Trustees governs the Arkansas State University System, consisting of multiple campuses, sites, and centers located throught the service area of the university. Members of the Board of Trustees are appointed by the Governor of Arkansas. This is the policy-making governing board.


The local Board of Visitors serves as an external advisory body to the Chancellor. Members of the board have attained prominence in their field and are chosen because of their value in providing sound advice and counsel.



The Arkansas State University System, based in Little Rock, serves 23,310 students in Arkansas and Queretaro, Mexico, with a total operating budget of $281 million.


The ASU System includes Arkansas State University, a four-year research institution in Jonesboro with an instructional site in Paragould and degree centers in Beebe, Mountain Home, Blytheville, Forrest City, and West Memphis. Arkansas State University Campus Queretaro opened in September 2017. The system's two-year college institutions include ASU-Beebe, with additional campuses in Heber Springs and Searcy and an instructional site at Little Rock Air Force Base; ASU-Newport, with additional campuses in Jonesboro and Marked Tree; ASU-Mountain Home; and ASU Mid-South in West Memphis. College of the Ouachitas in Malvern will become the newest member institution of the ASU System on Jan. 1, 2020, under a merger agreement approved and executed on Feb. 20 pending approval of the Higher Learning Commission.


Dr. Charles L. Welch serves as president of the ASU System at its administrative offices in Little Rock. The chancellors are Dr. Kelly Damphousse at Arkansas State, Dr. Jennifer Methvin at ASU-Beebe, Dr. Sandra Massey at ASU-Newport; Dr. Robin Myers at ASU-Mountain Home and Dr. Debra West at ASU Mid-South. A five-member Board of Trustees appointed by the governor governs the system.

Road restoration is underway on the ASUMH campus. Please allow extra time when coming to campus as you may need to enter the campus by another route or park in a different location.

Current Road/Parking Lot Closures (starting 9/24/2020): College Street Entrance and Wade Street Entrance, Parking lots behind Integrity First Hall and Dryer Hall. This part of the road restoration should be completed on Wednesday, September 30th, by the end of the day.

Phase 2: After College Street & Wade Street entrances have reopened, we will move on to blocking the Highway 62 entrance and King Circle toward Roller Hall and Roller Drive. Barricades will be in place.

Phase 3: After the Highway 62 entrance opens, we will be moving to the Maintenance Entrance, Maintenance & Vada Sheid Community Development Center parking lots.We apologize for the inconvenience this may cause as we continue to make needed upgrades to campus.

An important part of the Leadership Intern program is service to others. Reaching back after you have been through the program and helping a new member of the program is encouraged. Consider the list of ideas below and mark at least two things you would be willing to do.

Important Disclosures about the Program and the Funeral Service Industry
I understand this program is full-time and requires that I follow a specific course rotation of 14-16 credit hours per semester.
I understand that all Funeral Science Education curriculum course work must be completed with a grade of “C” or better.
I understand that students must maintain a 2.5 GPA and will only be allowed to retake courses from which they withdraw or failed in the first semester upon admission to the program.
I understand that students are responsible for any costs associated with the program including field trips and Training Camp.
I understand that when I receive my results for each section of the National Board Examination, I must forward a copy of such results to the program coordinator as a condition of graduation.
I understand that it is my responsibility to know the licensing requirements for any state in which I intend to practice.
I understand that students who have previously been convicted of a crime may be restricted from certain clinical facilities and may be ineligible for some state licenses.
I understand that students who have a physical disability should contact the state in which he/she plans to seek licensure to determine if the disability will affect licensure.
I understand that a current driver’s license is required prior to enrolling in a clinical or practicum course.
