Program Overview

Associate of Science (AS)

The Associate of Science in Criminal Justice is designed for students planning to transfer to a four-year institution or pursue advanced studies in criminology or criminal justice. Students gain a strong foundation in law enforcement, courts, corrections, investigations, and public safety while preparing for careers or continued education.

Associate of Applied Science (AAS)

The Associate of Applied Science in Criminal Justice prepares students to enter the workforce with practical knowledge and skills for careers in law enforcement, corrections, public safety, investigations, and private security. Students may also receive prior learning credit for qualifying Arkansas Police Academy coursework.

Certificate of Proficiency (CP)

The Certificate of Proficiency introduces students to the fundamentals of criminal justice and is an excellent option for those exploring the field or beginning their education. Credits earned can be applied toward either the Associate of Science or Associate of Applied Science degree. High school students may also begin the program through the ASUMH Secondary Center.

Transfer Options

Any student who earns the Associate of Applied Science at ASUMH may be admitted to the Bachelor of Applied Science in Organizational Supervision at ASUJ in either the on-campus or A-State Online program with full junior classification, subject to completing the admission requirements for ASUJ.
