Program Overview
ASUMH's Associate of Science in Education provides the foundation coursework needed for the first two years of a bachelor's degree in education. Students benefit from small class sizes, personalized instruction, and transfer pathways designed to prepare future educators for careers in Arkansas and beyond. A minimum 2.70 GPA is required for graduation.
Elementary Education (K–6)
Prepare to teach students in kindergarten through sixth grade while building a strong foundation in child development, instructional technology, classroom management, and elementary teaching methods. This pathway transfers to programs such as Arkansas State University, the University of Central Arkansas, and Southern Arkansas University.
Middle Level Education (4–8)
Prepare to teach grades 4–8 by selecting two concentration areas from mathematics, science, social studies, or language arts. Multiple transfer pathways are available through the University of Central Arkansas and Arkansas State University.
Secondary Social Studies (History)
Designed for students pursuing a career teaching history and social studies at the secondary level. Students complete foundational education coursework along with history and government courses before transferring to the University of Central Arkansas.
Special Education (K–12)
Prepare to work with students with exceptional learning needs across kindergarten through twelfth grade. Coursework emphasizes inclusive classrooms, child development, educational technology, and teaching strategies for diverse learners.
