Program Overview
Associate of General Studies (AGS)
The Associate of General Studies degree provides a student the flexibility to design their own program of study with the exception of 18 credit hours of General Education Requirements. An AGS degree can contain traditional transfer courses as well as professional or technical courses. Students planning on transferring to a four-year institution need to work closely with an advisor to ensure that the courses chosen meet the general education core and correspond to a degree at the receiving four-year institution.
With the AGS, students have the opportunity to pursue a flexible degree program to meet their unique interests, career goals, and academic needs. This degree is designed for students who want to advance in their careers, change careers, pursue a lifelong interest, or use the degree as a pathway to a baccalaureate degree.
Certificate of General Studies
The Certificate of General Studies is designed so that a student in this certificate program will complete the majority of the General Education core in the student's first year of college. The General Education core is the foundation of most baccalaureate degrees in the State of Arkansas.
