The holiday season will officially begin on Friday, November 29, with the traditional lighting ceremony for the Coulter Celebration of Lights on the campus of Arkansas State University-Mountain Home. ASUMH and the City of Mountain Home have partnered to create a drive-through holiday lights celebration for the entire community to enjoy. The Coulter Celebration of Lights has delighted visitors of all ages with more than two million twinkling lights and displays since its founding in 2021.
The celebration opens on November 29 with a lighting ceremony and Candy Cane 5K run/walk, sponsored by the ASUMH Alumni Association. The drive-through displays are open from 5:30 to 9:00 p.m. each night through December 29. In addition, a festival with holiday treats, food truck, wintery slides, and a visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus will take place December 13-15.
The entrance to campus is limited during the event to the College Street Thompson/Martin Gate and traffic exits through the Hurd Gate onto Highway 62. While admission to the event is free, donations for Coulter Celebration of Lights operations and student scholarships can be made at the exit gate.
In 2023, Coulter Celebration of Lights was named Festival/Event of the Year for new festivals in Arkansas less than four years old by the Arkansas Recreation and Parks Association.
