The Arkansas Single Parent Scholarship Fund is proud to recognize Zachary A. Brown of Baxter County as our July 2026 Student of the month.

Brown is balancing a lot: studying special education and business, working for Goodyear, and being there for his 9-year-old son.

“Some days it feels like a lot, but I keep going,” he said.

Despite his hectic schedule, Brown still finds joy in the simple moments like the smile on his son’s face when he sees Brown picking him up from school or silly moments playing together at the lake.

Prior to returning to school, Brown felt like he was plateauing.

“I was working hard but not really moving forward,” he explained. “I wanted a better future for both of us. I reached a point where I knew I needed something more stable long-term, and school was the way to get there.”

Now, Brown is a student at Arkansas State University–Mountain Home, studying special education and business. Since going back to school, Brown has become more confident, and his son can feel that.

The decision to major in special education was not made lightly: “I chose Special Education because of my own experiences as a parent. I want to work with kids who need patience and understanding. My goal is to teach and be someone families can rely on.”

We are proud to support Brown as he works towards this commendable goal, but it’s all because of our donors that this support is possible.

To our donors, he’d like to say: “Your support has given me stability, confidence, and the ability to keep moving forward toward a career that will help my son and others in the special-needs community. Your generosity is making a real difference for families like mine.”
